Hi Carol,
I concur with your earlier assessment that the source course materials are a
"little thin" for a 40 hour micro-course.
Today, I took the liberty of injecting an outline for a new learning pathway
called "The nature of entrepreneurship" - I was thinking of calling this
pathway "Entrepreneurship unplugged" - but don't think my suggested pages would
live up to the title :-)
Background thoughts and rationale:
1) I think its important for learners to know that failure is a key ingredient
for success
2) Wanted to incorporate a compelling and challenging discussion - so have
thrown in a page about sharing ideas business ideas openly.
3) The sharing of business ideas is also intended to get the learners to think
critically about what they should and can share openly because subsequent
learning challenges may result in learners sharing great ideas they don't mean
to share.
4) I thought it would be useful to have the learners stand in the shoes of an
entrepreneur (via role play) looking at other successful businesses before the
tackle the "Before starting your own business" pathway.
I think the addition of this learning pathway covers the gap in learning hours
- but hopefully adds interest and opportunities for learners to share ideas in
a sensible way. It would be cool if IENT100 course could become/mature into an
"innovation hub" of community learning.
Geez - I didn't mean to spend my Sunday this way - but had a lot of fun
thinking this through. Your fault for drafting compelling materials ;-)
