Dear OERuMC members
My best (belated) wishes to you and your loved ones for 2016! I returned this
week from my annual "off-the-grid" summer break with batteries fully charged.
Herewith a succinct update on action items from our last meeting.
1) Earlier dates for 2016 OERu meetings confirmed
As per OERuMC recommendation to consider an earlier date for the OERu meetings,
UHI have confirmed that they will be able to host the 2016 meetings from 3 - 5
October in Inverness. Pencil in those dates.
2) DS4OER course scheduled
The next DS4OER course is scheduled to start on 7 March 2016. This coincides
with Open Education week this year. We are aiming to support staff at OERu
partners who will be working on assembling courses for MVP. Please encourage
staff at your institutions who will be assisting in preparing courses for MVP
to register. I also encourage partners who have experience in OERu course
development to register and assist with us in mentoring new partners. See:

3) 2016 Action plan
Before the holiday break, the OERF was able to commence work on setting up the
first draft of the 2016 action plan. See:
http://wikieducator.org/OERu/Planning/2016_Action_plan
We also constructed a Gantt chart in the wiki for the first quarter:
http://wikieducator.org/OERu/Planning/2016_Action_plan/Gantt_chart
We are learning a lot from this process - not too mention that achieving MVP
has many moving and interrelated parts. Our project planning approach still
needs some refinement. We need to simplify and improve how to effectively
communicate the high level summary of our execution plan. The OERF is working
on ideas to create a simple and accessible pathway for new participants to get
an overview of our key initiatives and milestones.
4) Establish an MVP task force
The OERF is making good progress in setting up the MVP task force. We would
welcome your feedback and suggestions for improvement on the draft TORs for
this group. See:
http://wikieducator.org/OERu/Planning/OERu_MVP_task_force/Terms_of_reference
We are targeting early March 2016 the inaugural meeting of the task force.
5) Next OERuMC meeting
The next OERuMC meeting will take place after the first MVP task force meeting.
The outputs of the task force meeting will be tabled at the next OERuMC
meeting.
We are off to a good start this year. This bodes well for achieving success in
completing MVP before our next partner's meeting in Scotland.
