Hi Everyone,
Apology for the silence, but I have been waiting for the outcome of the LiDA
course approvals by Academic Board at Otago Polytechnic.
I am pleased to report that the LiDA course specification derived from our the
curriculum outline on the KanBan board drawing on existing course frameworks at
OERu partners combined with the inputs from our crowdsourcing initiative has
been approved as a first-year level course at Otago Polytechnic.
As Otago Polytechnic has a default CC-BY intellectual property policy, I am
able to share the approved course specification in the wiki:
http://wikieducator.org/Learning_in_a_digital_age/LiDA_approved_course_specification
Otago Polytechnic has also approved micro-credential options for the course for
assessed learning in the form of open badges (or printed certificates) for each
of the micro-courses. Once OERu learners have accumulated the four
micro-credentials, they will be able to receive transcript credit for the LiDA
course.
The OERu welcomes any partner who would like to offer assessment services for
this course for local credit. We are also keen to hear from partners who would
like to explore opportunities for two or more institutions to collaboratively
offer LiDA as an open boundary course with local full-fee students studying in
parallel with the OERu learners.
If you are considering local assessment services for LiDA - now is a good time
to engage in the course development process.
Gráinne and I had an informal catch up earlier this week to brainstorm the
potential division of the learning pathways for each micro course. Over the
coming weekend - I will update the wiki with our current thinking. Gráinne also
has a number of great ideas for activities and related assessments - this is
going to be an amazing course!
We have scheduled an online course development meeting for Tuesday 26 July 2016
for the following times:
1) UK - 9am
2) Brisbane - 6pm
1) New Zealand - 8pm
With apology they put the UK in a funny place ;-) - so the time is not ideal
for our North American partners. However, please feel free to provide feedback
or inputs into the meeting via this list.
We will use our designated meeting room link:
https://zoom.us/j/541899894
If you're available - you are most welcome to join the meeting.
