I am pleased to report that Otago Polytechnic will offer open badges as
micro-credentials for each of the LiDA micro courses on a fee for service basis
to cover the costs of assessment.
These open badges will be mapped to formal academic credit because they will be
assessed against the official learning outcomes of the course. Once learners
have successfully completed the four micro courses required for course credit
in New Zealand, learners will all be able to purchase an optional "Certificate
of Achievement" and/or request a transcript for credit transfer purposes within
the OERu network and elsewhere for the LiDA course.
We extend an open invitation to all OERu partners to join us in implementing
open badges and micro-credentials for OERu courses. This is an exciting step
forward for the OERu network.
