Hi everyone,
I found a couple of hours over the weekend to populate the front matter and
course announcements for LiDA101 in preparation for Ray's LiDA101 course
participants at Otago Polytechnic (OP) starting on Monday. See:
https://course.oeru.org/lida101/
1) Site registrations are enabled for any OP learners wanting to post WENote
comments and register a course blog site for tracking.
2) I've activated site analytics to track data of visits to the LiDA101 site.
Ray, additional points for your information:
1) I haven't activated the automated Mautic email campaigns on the back end for
course announcements as I'm not sure how you are dealing with course
communications for local OP students.
2) For this prototype, users opting to use OERu technologies like
Forums.oeru.org and Bookmarks.oeru.org etc. will need to create separate
accounts for these technologies. (Single sign on is complex and we've opted to
keep things simple for this prototype.)
2) We have decided to experiment with Mastodon -- an open source alternative to
Twitter. To avoid the risks of spam - we will use a manual account creation
process. The startup page provides a link to request an account. See:
https://course.oeru.org/lida101/startup/start-here/
3) The following technologies are currently harvested for the course feed:
WENotes posts, registered blog urls and forums.oeru.org. (Early this week we
will integrate code for harvesting bookmarks, Mastodon posts and Hypothes.is in
the event that anyone asks why these posts are not displayed in the feed.)
I've not populated the assignment sections for OERu learners yet as I still
need to coordinate with the Edubits team regarding templates, formats etc.
However, this will not be a problem for the OP learners as you have an internal
assessment for the Grad Dip students.
The OERu is pleased to have this prototyping opportunity with OP learners
before going "live" with an international prototype, currently scheduled for
September 2017.
This week I will get the course resources for LiDA103 finished so OP learners
will have access to the full set of LiDA course materials to support their
learning. I will update the front matter for LiDA102, LiDA103, and LiDA104 in
sequence so they are ready when your learners get to these sections.
Looking good - let's make the future happen!
